Oracom Uganda played host to a distinguished delegation from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on September 20th, 2023. Led by Counselor Clinton D. White, the visit aimed to assess the profound impact of digital transformation initiatives in the East Africa region. This visit came at a crucial juncture, aligning with the U.S. Government’s commitment to investing $57 million over the next five years. This substantial investment is intended to unlock new opportunities and strengthen connections with the African diaspora in the United States, signaling a strategic partnership for economic growth and technological advancement.

During the visit, Counselor Clinton D. White lauded the visionary leadership of Oracom Uganda’s CEO, Alphonce Juma, who also happens to be an alumnus of the esteemed Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). The Counselor commended Oracom’s pivotal role in fostering innovation, particularly through its subsidiary, Oracom Web Solutions Limited. Renowned for providing cutting-edge digital technology solutions not only in Kenya but also across the wider East African region, Oracom Web Solutions Limited has been instrumental in driving digital transformation across various sectors.

The discussions during the visit revolved around Oracom Uganda’s strategic roadmap towards regional digital transformation. With a diverse portfolio of 14 companies operating under one roof, Oracom highlighted its pivotal role in driving technological innovations that are reshaping industries. The delegation showed a keen interest in Oracom’s innovative tech solutions and their potential to address unemployment challenges while fostering an inclusive digital transformation culture in East Africa.

Counselor Clinton D. White emphasized the significance of Oracom Uganda’s efforts in generating employment opportunities, especially for the youth, thereby contributing significantly to the region’s economic growth and development. He reiterated the importance of collaboration between international agencies like USAID and forward-thinking organizations like Oracom Uganda in driving sustainable development through digital innovation.
